Ruth Schmidt, PhD, is an environmental scientist and AI practitioner with over 10 years of experience in sustainable development. Currently serving as an AI Advisor at GIZ, they lead the strategic implementation of AI applications aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals in various countries across Africa and Asia. Their previous roles include environmental consultant at IUCN, data scientist at Plotly and Nextgem, and postdoctoral fellow at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique.
