Faye Akbar

Faye Akbar is an experienced professional in the field of geotechnical engineering and tailings management, currently serving as the Audit and Assurance Manager for Tailings & Dams at Glencore since June 2023. Previously, Faye held the position of Principal Consultant for Tailings and Dams at Alcoa and worked as a Principal Advisor at Rio Tinto. With extensive experience as a Special Inspector of Mines - Geotechnical for the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety in Western Australia, Faye has also contributed as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at AngloGold Ashanti and GHD, among other roles. Faye's academic qualifications include a Master of Engineering in Geotechnical from Curtin University of Technology, a Post Graduate Certificate in Geotechnical from the same institution, and two diplomas from North Metropolitan TAFE in Government Workplace Inspection and Work Health and Safety. Faye Akbar's background encompasses a solid foundation in both engineering principles and regulatory standards within the mining sector.
