Stephen Hartwell has extensive experience in the mining sector, currently serving as the Head of Capital Studies and Projects Zinc at Glencore since August 2012. In this role, Stephen leads a multidisciplinary team for long-term mine planning and capital studies, having developed a management framework for capital investments across the Zinc portfolio. Additionally, Stephen established a PMO office for major capital studies and implemented a Life of Asset process aligned with business strategy. Previous positions at Glencore include Manager of Strategic Planning and Mining Lead, overseeing reserve estimations and Life of Mine planning for various Zinc assets. Prior to Glencore, Stephen held various positions at Xstrata Zinc. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining and Mineral Engineering from Queen's University and a Certificate in Project Management from The University of British Columbia.
