Sandra Blum has a diverse range of work experience in the field of translational science and oncology research. Sandra began their career as a Research Assistant at ETH Zurich and the University Hospital Zurich, focusing on infectious diseases and microbiology. Sandra then pursued their PhD at the University of Geneva, where they worked as a PhD candidate. Following this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Basel and as a Research Scientist at the University Hospital Basel. Sandra then transitioned to industry, joining Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) as a Principal Scientist in oncology translational research. Sandra held this role for three years before being promoted to Principal Scientist II. Most recently, they have joined Galapagos as an Associate Director of Translational Science.
Sandra Blum obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, General from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2008. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Microbiology and Immunology at ETH Zürich, which they completed in 2010. Sandra then went on to the University of Geneva, where they worked as a PhD candidate in Immunology from 2010 to 2013. Lastly, Sandra earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Experimental Virology from the University of Basel in 2014.
