Laura Derksen

Laura Derksen has extensive experience in product management, with a focus on creating engaging user experiences and driving user engagement and retention. Laura currently holds the position of Director of Product Management at Bridgit, where they have been since August 2021. Prior to that, they were a Product Management Lead at Bridgit from February 2020 to August 2021, and a Senior Product Manager from April 2017 to February 2020. Before joining Bridgit, Laura worked at D2L as a Senior Technical Product Manager from January 2015 to April 2017, where they created and maintained product roadmaps and led agile teams in implementing new web services. At Rosetta Stone, they served as a Senior Product Manager from April 2013 to January 2015, leading the planning and execution of a next-generation licensing web service. Laura's career began at Livemocha, where they held the role of Technical Product Manager from September 2009 to April 2013. At Livemocha, they were responsible for increasing user engagement and retention, launching personalized experiences that significantly grew the user base and member-to-member conversations.

Laura Derksen attended the University of Waterloo from 2003 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Laura has obtained certifications in Product Strategy and Product Leadership from Reforge, as well as a Talk Master Certification from Speaker Labs, all in 2022.
