Dave T.

Dave T. has extensive work experience in the field of security and privacy engineering. Dave is currently working at GoCardless as the VP of Security & Privacy Engineering since November 2021. Before joining GoCardless, Dave held the role of Director of Security and Privacy Engineering at the same company from July 2020 to January 2022.

Prior to GoCardless, Dave worked at G-Research where they held the positions of Head of Security from February 2019 to July 2020 and Head of Monitoring, Investigation & Response from July 2016 to February 2019.

Dave also has experience working at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as the Head of Cyber Resilience Centre from August 2015 to July 2016. During their time at DWP, they were responsible for managing cyber security, delivering threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment, and security incident response. Dave successfully delivered numerous security improvement projects and managed a substantial budget.

Before their role at DWP, Dave worked at the UK Ministry of Defence where they held various positions, including Senior Security Manager from March 2013 to February 2014, Security Manager from February 2011 to March 2013, and Operational Security Project Manager from April 2007 to February 2011. Dave was responsible for leading teams, managing budgets, and delivering security projects.

Earlier in their career, Dave worked at NISCC (now CPNI) as the GSi Team Leader from July 2003 to April 2007. Dave was responsible for developing information assurance standards and security policies for organizations connecting to the Government Secure Intranet.

Dave began their career at Deloitte UK as a Senior Consultant, providing security and information assurance services to clients in the financial services sector. Dave also worked at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting as a Senior Consultant, where they provided similar services to clients in the financial services sector.

Dave T. completed their education with a Master's degree in Management of Information, Security and Risk from City, University of London, from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in business studies from The University of Sheffield, where they attended from 1996 to 1999.

In addition to their degrees, Dave T. has obtained several certifications. In 2018, they earned the Sabsa Foundation certification from The SABSA Institute. In 2015, they obtained the GIAC - Certified Incident Handler certification from the SANS Institute. In 2014, they achieved the PHIA - Government Intelligence Analyst - Level 3 Award from City and Guilds. In 2011, they received the Managing Successful Programmes - Foundation certification from APMG International and the Managing Safely certification from IOSH. In 2009, they obtained a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from St. Andrews University. In 2006, they achieved the PRINCE2 - Practitioner certification from APMG International and the CISSP certification from (ISC)².
