Bill Johnston's work experience includes various roles in different companies. In 1984, they worked as a Basic Electronics and Lab Instructor at Data Processing Institute. From 1985 to 1999, they served as a Field Service Manager at Advance Business Systems. In 2000, they joined Verizon as a Central Office Equipment Installation staff, and later became a Network Installation Quality Assurance Auditor. Bill also worked at Verizon as an Eng/Ops Specialist, where they were recognized as "The Fiber Guy" and co-founded the Fiber Optics Standards Committee. In 2006, they became a Men's Lacrosse Official at the Southern Lacrosse Officials Association. Most recently, they have been the Solutions Architect at Go!Foton, and is currently serving as the Director of Sales, Telecom Solutions.

Bill Johnston attended the University of Phoenix from 2005 to 2013 and received a Bachelor of Science in Management with a focus on Business Management. In 2012, they also obtained a Network + Technologies Certificate from the same university. Prior to their time at the University of Phoenix, Bill attended the Data Processing Institute from 1982 to 1984, where they obtained a Certificate in Electrical/Electronics Maintenance and Repair Technology.
