Simon Schmid

Simon Schmid is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in project management and implementation within the mining and oil sectors. Currently serving as Project Director at Gold Fields since January 2023, Simon previously held the position of Project Manager at Resolute Mining Limited from January 2019 to January 2023, where Simon successfully completed underground block cave mine development. Prior roles include Implementation Team Lead at ConocoPhillips, where Simon achieved notable milestones including a cumulative 5 million offshore manhours LTI-free and the prestigious Global 'Spirit' Award in 2016. With a background that spans positions such as Topside Implementation Lead and Project Execution Lead, Simon has overseen significant projects including pipeline repairs and major offshore constructions, consistently delivering results under budget and ahead of schedule. Educationally, Simon holds degrees in Mechanical and Welding Engineering from Technische Hochschule Ulm.
