I am Mieczysław “Matt” Bakun, founder and CEO of Gold Filled Ltd, a UK-based IP-backed innovation company.

My work in AI is rooted in more than 30 years of interest in virtual reality, interaction psychology and the theory of apperception. Between the late 1990s and 2008, I developed an independent framework of “virtual apperception”, treating apperception as an active process of constructing meaning from sensory input, memory, context and prior knowledge.

At that time, limited funding and computing conditions made it difficult to turn this theory into an engineering platform. I therefore focused on building commercial value and protected intellectual property through business, while continuing the research independently.

Gold Filled Ltd began with Gold GF®, a trademark-backed brand and certification initiative in the gold-filled jewellery sector. This work focused on authenticity, quality assurance and trust.

The same principle now drives our AI work: trust must be verifiable.

In jewellery, verification means material standards, certification and trademark protection. In AI, it means auditable memory, explainable reasoning, secure knowledge management and energy-efficient computation.

Through the Cognitive and Ethical IVB Lab, Gold Filled Ltd is developing IVB / VAAP — an apperception-centric AI architecture focused on energy-efficient, auditable and ethically verifiable intelligent systems.

Our IP combines two connected platforms:

• Gold GF® — trademarks, domains and certification strategy for verified gold-filled jewellery.
• IVB Lab — patents and R&D for trustworthy, auditable AI.

I hold 100% ownership of Gold Filled Ltd and lead the company’s IP, research, brand and commercial strategy.

My goal is to transform long-term research and protected intellectual property into scalable licensing, certification and technology platforms.
