Thomas Gilbert has a diverse work experience in the telecommunications industry. Thomas started their career at Verizon in 2000, where they worked as an Outside Plant Engineer and later as a Senior Engineering- National Staff. At Verizon, Thomas was responsible for FTTP testing and training, as well as contributing to a fiber testing project.

In 2008, Thomas joined FairPoint Communications as a Senior Network Architect, where they specialized in MEF-Metro Ethernet Technologies. Thomas then transitioned to the role of Director of Network Architecture, leading a team of network architects and overseeing Y.1731, IEEE 802.1ag, and 802.x standards.

In 2017, Thomas moved to Consolidated Communications, where they served as the Director of Network Architecture. In this role, they led a department of senior network architects responsible for various broadband technologies, including fixed wireless, copper and fiber broadband, and MPLS. Thomas also managed advanced network troubleshooting and 4G LTE deployment.

Thomas joined OTELCO in 2020 as the Director of Network Architecture. During this time, they managed the network architecture and played a key role in the company's operations.

Recently, in 2022, Thomas joined GoNetspeed as the Director of Network Architecture and Network Engineering. In this role, they are responsible for driving the network architecture and engineering efforts of the company.

Thomas Gilbert has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Software Systems Engineering from Colorado Technical University. In addition to their formal education, Thomas has obtained various certifications including the CBRS Certified Professional Installer (CPI) from the Federal Communications Commission (obtained in October 2019), the General Radiotelephone Operator License - PG from the Federal Communications Commission (obtained in January 1985), the Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA) from Cisco (obtained in July 2013), and the MEF CECP 2.0 from the MEF Forum (obtained in September 2015).
