Albert Chen

Albert (Shun-Chuan) Chen is a seasoned technology leader currently serving as the Director of Gen AI Blocks at Google Cloud AI2 since July 2025. With previous experience at Google from 2010 to 2020 as a Senior Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead Manager, Albert significantly improved display ads quality through user-centered features, achieving a 40% reduction in muted ad rates. Additionally, Albert played a pivotal role in developing a flagship display ad product that reached over $1 billion in annual revenue by 2015. Following a tenure as Director of Engineering at YouTube from April 2020 to July 2025, where Albert oversaw YouTube Live Engineering and led efforts in YouTube Shorts core infrastructure, Albert holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin.
