Amir Karamlou

Research Scientist

Amir Karamlou is a professional with extensive experience in quantum computing and engineering. Amir served as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute for Quantum Computing and held research internships at Zapata Computing, Inc. and IBM, focusing on applications for near-term quantum devices. Amir's academic contributions include a role as a Quantum Computing Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from January 2017 to February 2020 and a Graduate Research Fellowship at the MIT Engineering Quantum Systems Lab from September 2018 to August 2023. Additionally, Amir was a Research Assistant in the MIT Quantum Photonics Group, working on NV centers in diamond for quantum applications. Amir currently works as a Research Scientist on the NISQ team at Google and previously acted as Academic Director for Qubit x Qubit. Amir holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earned between 2018 and 2022.
