Andrew Helton

Andrew Helton possesses a robust background in astrophysics and education, with extensive experience in both teaching and research. Helton served as a Lecturer at the University of Minnesota for Introductory Astronomy for Non-Majors and worked as an Adjunct Lecturer at Santa Clara University, offering courses on The Solar System and Stars and Galaxies. Additionally, Helton held roles as Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant in various astronomy courses at the University of Minnesota. Currently, Helton is Editor in Chief of the Google Research Blog and Program Manager for Google Research Communications. Prior experience includes a Staff Scientist position at SOFIA Observatory, contributing as a FORCAST Instrument Scientist, and undertaking research on classical and recurrent novae during a Post-Doctoral Researcher role. Education includes a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the University of Minnesota and a BS in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Iowa.
