Andy Martens is a seasoned data scientist with extensive experience in various roles across health, technology, and academia. At the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Andy developed a machine learning method for record linkage, enhancing the integration of educational and hospital data for improved insights into school health. Subsequently, at Google, Andy progressed from a quantitative researcher, where methods were created to evaluate information extraction from search results, to a data scientist focusing on enhancing causality inference from search engine logs. Prior experience includes serving as an associate professor at the University of Canterbury, where Andy designed and analyzed studies on a wide array of psychological topics. Additionally, Andy contributed to community service as a corps member with AmeriCorps NCCC. Education includes a PhD in Psychology from the University of Arizona and a data science program at Metis.
