Arjun Akula is a highly skilled research scientist with extensive experience in natural language processing and machine learning. Arjun began the career at IBM Research as a Research Software Engineer from March 2014 to September 2016, contributing to projects within the Cognitive Research and Language Technologies team. Subsequently, Arjun undertook multiple research internships, including positions at Amazon AI and Google Research, where mentoring was provided by Dr. Spandana Gella and Dr. Soravit Changpinyo, among others. Since January 2022, Arjun has been employed at Google as a Research Scientist and is currently fulfilling a similar role at Google DeepMind as of December 2023. Arjun holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics and Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and earlier degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT Hyderabad.
