Ben Townsend

Ben Townsend is an experienced professional in infrastructure and sustainability, currently serving as the Global Head of Infrastructure & Sustainability at Google since January 2019. Townsend leads a team focused on the global strategy, planning, and development of Google's data center utility power and water infrastructure portfolio, significantly contributing to the company's data center development goals. Previously, Townsend held various roles at Google, including Head of Infrastructure Strategy for Data Centers and Portfolio Manager for Data Center Acquisitions, where responsibilities included managing risk programs and site selection for new capacity. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Engineer at bp, where Townsend focused on power generation strategy and energy systems design, as well as consulting roles in sustainability and renewable energy. Townsend holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.
