Catherine Chung

Senior Software Engineer

Catherine Chung is a seasoned software engineer with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. As a Senior Software Engineer at Google since April 2022, Catherine specializes in developing Google Maps for emerging markets. Previously, Catherine contributed as an Engineering Practicum Intern at Google, where important UI features were created to enhance user retention. Catherine co-founded AthenaHacks, the largest all-female hackathon in Southern California, to promote a supportive environment for women in technology. As an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at USC Viterbi School of Engineering, Catherine facilitated learning for students in various computer science courses. Additional experience includes a communications role for the USC Association for Computing Machinery, an internship at Teatown Lake Reservation advocating for environmental education, and research conducted on solar water purification at IBM.
