Catherine Essig

Catherine Essig is currently serving as Regulatory Counsel, Privacy at Google, a role they began in 2025. They previously held positions as Director, Privacy Counsel and Deputy Privacy Officer at Foundation Medicine, and Associate Privacy Counsel at Google from 2020 to 2023. Catherine has extensive experience in the legal field, which includes roles as a Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate at Hogan Lovells and a Law Clerk for the U.S. District Courts. They earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Southern Methodist University. Additionally, Catherine participated as a Fellow at ZwillGen and gained early experience at Baker Botts and Facebook.
