Cindy Yip has extensive legal expertise with a focus on commercial law, particularly within the technology and telecommunications sectors. Yip began a legal career at Simmons & Simmons as a Solicitor in the Commercial IT & Telecoms group from September 2001 to February 2006. Following this, Yip served as Legal Counsel on a secondee basis at both Barclays Bank PLC and du, a telecommunications startup, in early 2005 and 2006, respectively. Yip transitioned to Google UK Limited, initially as Commercial Legal Lead for Android Pay from July 2015 to June 2017, and subsequently held multiple senior legal positions at Google, including Commercial Legal Lead for Communications and Regional Counsel for Emerging Markets, from March 2017 to April 2025. In addition to practical experience, Yip is an active member of The Law Society's Ethnic Minority Network Committee since October 2021. Academically, Yip holds an LLB in Law from the University of Manchester and completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, London.
