Dean Deng is a software engineer at Google, where they build gVisor, a userspace kernel focused on efficient and secure virtualization. Previously, they held internships at Qumulo, Inc. and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, optimizing file replication and developing business analytics tools, respectively. Dean earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Columbia University, where they also served as a teaching assistant and research intern. Additionally, they have a Precollege Diploma in Piano and Composition from the Manhattan School of Music and a high school diploma from Hunter College High School. Passionate about operating systems, virtualization, and security, Dean also enjoys classical piano and composition.
