Derek Phanekham

Derek Phanekham is an accomplished computer science professional with extensive experience in research and software engineering. Notable positions include Technical Intern roles at Lockheed Martin and Fidelity Investments, as well as an Undergraduate Researcher at the SMU Lyle School of Engineering, where contributions were made to cloud network performance benchmarking supported by Google. Derek served as a Research Assistant at Southern Methodist University, supervising multiple projects and developing machine learning models, contributing to open-source projects, and creating a novel batch scheduling tool. Currently, Derek is a Software Engineer at Google, focusing on high throughput, low latency packet processing in cloud networking software, while also holding an Adjunct Professor position instructing a course on Information Security and Assurance. Derek holds both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Science from Southern Methodist University.
