Du Tran

Du Tran is a Research Scientist and Tech Lead at Google since December 2023, focusing on AI and visual production models for Google devices, including Pixel phones and Chromebooks, with a strong emphasis on fundamental and applied research in computer vision (CV), machine learning (ML), and AI. Prior to this role, Du Tran served as Research Lead and Manager at Samsung Research America from February 2023 to December 2023, where leadership of a small applied research team resulted in significant advances, such as a 20% improvement in TV program classification and the creation of a new distributed video training codebase. Previously, from August 2016 to January 2023, Du Tran held various positions at Facebook, culminating as Staff Research Scientist, implementing video distributed training and developing multiple models for production, handling an extensive dataset of 830 million videos. Du Tran's early career includes research assistant roles at Dartmouth College and NEC Laboratories America, complemented by a PhD in Computer Science from Dartmouth College and a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
