Emily Trageser is a dedicated materials engineering researcher and graduate student at UC Santa Barbara, pursuing a PhD from 2020 to 2025. Trageser served as a Math Study Group Facilitator for the Women In Engineering Program at Penn State from August 2017 to October 2018 and gained research experience as an undergraduate research assistant in various capacities at Penn State University, focusing on hardware for water quality devices and thin film optical coatings. As an NSF Graduate Research Fellow at the Solid State Lighting & Energy Electronics Center, Trageser engages in advanced research on GaN laser diodes. Additional professional experience includes internships at Boeing and 3M, where critical projects involved flight test applications and R&D engineering. Currently, Trageser works as a Hardware Engineer at Google starting from November 2025.
