Fernanda Viégas is a prominent computer scientist currently serving as the Gordon McKay Professor at Harvard University, with an affiliation at the Harvard Business School and as the Sally Starling Seaver Professor at Harvard Radcliffe Institute. They co-lead the Insight and Interaction Lab alongside Professor Martin Wattenberg. Previously, Viégas worked as a Principal Scientist and Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google, and held roles as a Research Scientist at IBM and a Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab. In 2010, they co-founded Flowing Media, an information visualization studio. Viégas earned a BFA in Graphic Design and Art History from the University of Kansas and completed both an M.S. and PhD in Media Arts and Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
