Hui Son

Hui Son is an accomplished Hardware Engineer with extensive experience in optical system integration and prototyping for augmented reality devices, currently working at Google since November 2022. Previous roles include serving as a Senior Hardware Engineer at Waymo from August 2018 to November 2022, where leadership in lidar production projects and expertise in optical design were demonstrated. Prior experiences at notable companies such as SpaceX and Canon USA showcase a strong competency in mechanical and sensor development, as well as research in surface metrology methods. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, complemented by a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.
