Jacob Ekstrum

Jacob Ekstrum is an accomplished software engineer with a strong background in machine learning and data pipeline optimization, currently employed at Google since June 2024. Previously, Jacob held positions at Microsoft, where notable achievements included leading the design of a serverless MLOps pipeline and significantly improving PySpark and TensorFlow architectures for performance and cost efficiency. At CUBRC, Jacob developed innovative machine learning solutions, including a novel image-to-image translation method using generative adversarial networks and an AutoML platform for healthcare event forecasting. Jacob earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University at Buffalo, where academic performance was distinguished by a GPA of 3.959, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
