James Kunz is currently the Director of Software Engineering at Google, leading efforts in the Search division. They have a robust academic background, having launched a course on Natural Language Processing with Deep Learning at UC Berkeley, where they also received the Distinguished Faculty Award in 2018. James previously held positions as a Software Engineer and Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google from 2011 to 2014, and gained experience as a Software Design Engineer intern at Microsoft. They earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University and are pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
