Jelani Nelson

Jelani Nelson is a Professor and Department Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. They are a theoretical computer scientist focused on algorithms designed for massive datasets, particularly in sketching and streaming algorithms, as well as dimensionality reduction and differential privacy. Jelani has held positions as a John L. Loeb Associate Professor at Harvard University and has conducted research at prominent institutions such as the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, Microsoft Research, and Princeton University. They earned both their Ph.D. and M.Eng. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
