Joel Atwater

Joel Atwater, PhD, is an accomplished engineer and entrepreneur with extensive experience in renewable energy and technology development. As a co-founder and Vice President of Crosswind Power Systems Inc., Joel contributed to the commercialization of airborne wind energy systems. At HydroRun Technologies Ltd., Joel served as Founder and Chief Technology Officer, leading the rapid development of hydrokinetic power systems. Joel's experience includes roles as Director at Structured Reports Corp., Product and System Architect at X (the moonshot factory), and Head of Portfolio Management at Google Research. Academic credentials include a PhD in Civil Engineering, as well as MASc and BASc degrees, all from The University of British Columbia. Joel's earlier work involved research with BC Hydro and logistical coordination for the NASA/CSA/UBC Pavilion Lake Research Project.
