John Li

Software Engineer

John Li is a graduate student researcher at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, advised by Professor Klara Nahrstedt, and previously worked as an undergraduate researcher in the IoT@Illinois Lab Group under Professor Matthew Caesar. John acquired comprehensive software engineering experience through internships at Lockheed Martin, Tableau, Salesforce, Juniper Networks, and Intuitive. A software engineer at Google since June 2025, John also contributed as a course assistant for CS 225 and a teaching assistant for ECE 110 and ECE 445. Additionally, John has held leadership roles as co-chair of the ACM's Special Interest Group in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, and gained early experience in customer service and marketing through positions at the Jewish Community Center and bridgeCS, Inc. John earned a Master of Science in Computer Engineering in 2025, complementing a Bachelor of Science in the same field obtained in 2023 from the same institution.
