Justin Pettit

Justin Pettit is an experienced software engineer with a diverse background in network security and development. Pettit began a career as a Network Security Engineer at WheelGroup and held various engineering roles at Cisco and Psionic Software. Significant positions include serving as a Senior Software Development Engineer at McAfee, Co-Chair of the OpenFlow Specification Working Group at the Open Networking Foundation, and Senior Staff Engineer at VMware and Google. In addition, Pettit played a key role as Founding Employee and Director of Switch Technology at Nicira, contributing to the Open vSwitch Project as a core team member. Currently, Pettit serves as a Steering Committee Member and Lead of the Product Security Working Group at Istio. Academic qualifications include a Master’s in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s in Operations and Management Information Systems from Santa Clara University.
