Krishna Bharat is a Distinguished Research Scientist at Google, where they have been since 1999, contributing to web search, information extraction, and search UIs, and founding Google News as well as serving as the First Director of Google R&D Bangalore. Prior to their current role, they were a Staff Research Scientist at DEC's Systems Research Center from 1996 to 1999. Bharat also served as a Founding Advisor for both Grokstyle Inc and Laserlike Inc between 2015 and 2018. They obtained their PhD in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from IIT Madras.
