Lei Kang is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in data science and transportation engineering. Before joining the Department of Statistics at Columbia University as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in December 2022, Lei held significant positions including Senior Applied Scientist and Tech Lead Manager at Uber, where leadership in optimizing Uber Eats' marketplace through machine learning solutions was demonstrated. Previous roles also include building data science teams at Reddit, conducting research at The World Bank and various transportation institutes in China, and serving as a Graduate Student Instructor at UC Berkeley. Lei holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from UC Berkeley and has published research related to transportation energy consumption and air traffic management. In February 2024, Lei commenced a position as a Senior Data Science Manager at Google.
