Lichan Hong is a Senior Director of Software Engineering at Google, with a focus on deep learning, large-scale recommendation systems, and user modeling since August 2011. Prior to this role, Lichan was a Research Scientist at the Augmented Social Cognition Group at PARC, where significant analytics studies of social networks and Twitter data were conducted from April 2007 to July 2011. Responsibilities included studying retweet behaviors and developing machine learning algorithms for user location prediction. Lichan's earlier experience includes leading projects at the User Interface Research Group at PARC, working as a Principal Engineer at EnFashion Inc, and conducting research at Bell Labs Research, Lucent Technologies. Lichan holds a PhD and MS in Computer Science from Stony Brook University and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China.
