Luyang Liu is an accomplished software engineer with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and distributed computing. Liu began a career as a research intern at Microsoft, focusing on wireless untethered virtual reality systems, before serving as a research and teaching assistant at Rutgers University. At Google, Liu has contributed to advancements in on-device AI, large language models (LLM), and federated learning since July 2019. Currently, Liu holds the position of staff software engineer at Google DeepMind, specializing in memory, reasoning, and multimodality of LLMs. Educationally, Liu earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications and a PhD in Computer Engineering from Rutgers University-New Brunswick.
