Mark Sargent

Mark Sargent has extensive experience in both academia and software development. As a Lecturer in Computer Science at California State University, Los Angeles from January 2014 to March 2020, Mark taught introductory courses in Java and Android, as well as classes on machine learning and artificial intelligence. Following this role, Mark worked as a Software Engineer at Google from April 2020 until June 2018, contributing as a full-stack developer for support applications. Additionally, Mark participated in a one-month residency at Google aimed at enhancing the representation of students from historically disadvantaged groups in tech, where exposure to engineering best practices was provided. Mark holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Arts in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics from Talbot School of Theology, a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine, and an MS in Computer Science from California State University-Los Angeles.
