Maureen Heymans is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and personalized learning. Currently serving as a Board Member at Ascend Learning and Vice President of Engineering & General Manager for Learning & Sustainability at Google since October 2021, Maureen has spearheaded the development of AI-powered learning tools across Google’s key products. Previously, Maureen held various senior roles at Google, including Principal Engineer for Google Now, where innovative personalized search experiences were developed, and Distinguished Engineer focused on user modeling and personalization across prominent Google platforms. Maureen's early career includes positions as a Product Engineering Analyst at Betasphere Inc. and a Research Assistant in a bioinformatics research group at UCSB, where a Master's degree in Computer Science was earned.
