Mevan Babakar

Mevan Babakar is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in information quality and integrity, currently serving as the Manager of Trust Strategy at Google since September 2022. Previously, Mevan held significant roles including News and Information Credibility Lead at UK for UNHCR, Interim Chief Executive Officer at Level Up, and Deputy CEO & Chief Operating Officer at Full Fact. As the founder of Level Up, a mentoring program connecting tech professionals in the UK with early career developers in Iraq and Syria, Mevan has demonstrated a commitment to empowering others in the tech industry. In addition, Mevan served on the advisory board of the International Fact-Checking Network and played a vital role in the early development of Bite the Ballot Ltd. Mevan's academic background includes an MSc in Biological and Bioprocess Engineering from The University of Sheffield and a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from St George's, University of London.
