Michael Lohman has extensive experience in engineering and management, currently serving as Head of Engineering/Management at Google Fiber since July 2016, where leadership of a 400-engineer team focuses on developing products and services. Since October 2018, Michael has also been the Engineering Lead for Global Resource Optimizations at Google Cloud. Previously, from February 1990 to June 2014, Michael held the position of Assistant Vice President Mobile Satellite at Hughes Network Systems, overseeing large-scale satellite projects. In addition, Michael has played a significant role as Software Development Engineer Manager for Google's Cloud Storage Systems and has been a Technical Lead on various complex engineering initiatives. Michael holds a Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has completed graduate-level courses in Information Theory and Error Correction in Digital Communications.
