Peiyan Yang

Peiyan Yang, Ph.D., has a strong background in mechanical engineering with a focus on optics and materials science. Notable experience includes a visiting student role at the University of Southern California, conducting molecular dynamics simulations on graphene, and serving as an optical engineering intern at Panasonic Automotive, where designs for imaging systems were optimized. As a guest researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Peiyan contributed to the upgrade and calibration of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Teaching experience at Georgia Institute of Technology involved leading a mechanical engineering laboratory and instructing over 300 students. Current roles include Hardware Sensing Engineer at Apple, focusing on ambient light sensors for iPhones, and optics/display testing at Google, integrating optics and machine learning.
