Richard McDougall

Richard McDougall is an experienced technology leader with a strong background in data storage and system performance. Currently serving at Google since April 2016, Richard focuses on planet-scale storage solutions for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Previously held the position of CTO for Storage & Big Data at VMware from May 2007 to April 2016, where responsibility included shaping technical direction and strategy for data storage. Richard also served as the Chief Performance Architect at VMware, driving performance initiatives for high-end mission-critical applications. Prior to this, Richard was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, contributing to enhancements in the Solaris operating system and hardware architectures. Richard's earlier experience includes roles as a Systems Engineer at Fujitsu Ltd and ICL, specializing in operating systems and performance optimization.
