Richard Piña

Principal Architect, Google Public Sector

Richard Piña is a highly experienced technology professional with a focus on cloud architecture and cybersecurity. Richard served as Adjunct Faculty in the Technology Management Department at New York University's Polytechnic School of Engineering from September 2010 to December 2012. At Google, Richard held multiple roles, including Principal Architect for Google Cloud, where Richard acted as Chief Technologist and Public Sector Technology Director for the City of New York from July 2019 to February 2022. Subsequently, Richard served as Security Practice Lead, overseeing public sector security solutions architecture and systems engineering aimed at risk management in cybersecurity. Prior to Google, Richard worked at IBM from September 2001 to January 2007, contributing as an Executive Architect and Senior Technical Advisor across various sectors. Richard holds a Master’s Degree from Columbia University, has a Ph.D. (ABD) from New York University, and earned a BS from Manhattan College.
