Richard Shin

Research Scientist

Richard Shin is an accomplished researcher and engineer specializing in computer science and electrical engineering. Richard's career began at UC Berkeley as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, contributing to smartphone security projects and later serving as a Reader in various computer science courses. In subsequent roles at Intel Labs and Microsoft, Richard focused on neural program synthesis and large language models, playing a significant part in developing conversational assistants and Bing Chat. Richard further honed research skills at Google in areas such as neural machine translation and automated theorem proving. With an extensive educational background—including a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a Ph.D. in Computer Science, and ongoing MS studies at UC Berkeley—Richard continues to advance research in innovative technologies.
