Rob Hawthorne is an accomplished technology professional with extensive experience in data and analytics. Currently serving as Chief Data & Analytics Technologist and Chief Technologist for the public sector at Google Cloud NZ since May 2020, Rob aids public sector agencies in leveraging open-source technologies. Previous roles include Independent Consultant at Z Energy NZ, Head of Microsoft Solution and Architecture at Theta Systems Ltd, and Managing Director of Prophesy. Rob has a background in education as a Teaching Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington and held various technical and leadership positions at Microsoft, KPMG Consulting, and other companies. Rob holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Science and Management from the University of Otago.
