Robert Kaufman, PhD, is a seasoned research scientist with expertise in human-centered AI, cognitive science, and computer science engineering. Currently at Toyota Research Institute, Robert leads research on autonomous vehicle communication and multimodal AI systems, contributing to novice learning processes in driving. Previous positions include co-founding SensAI Wellness to support neurodiverse users and conducting pivotal research in trust and explainability in AI across various fields during the PhD program at the University of California San Diego. In addition, Robert has a strong background in UX research with Amazon Web Services and clinical research management at Harvard Medical School. Education includes a PhD and MS from UC San Diego and a BS from The Ohio State University.
