Sami Tolvanen is a technology leader with extensive experience in software engineering and security. Co-founding WOT Services Oy, Sami served as CTO from July 2006 to June 2014, developing a crowdsourced reputation rating system that handled over 11 billion monthly requests. Following this role, Sami joined Nokia Corporation as a Senior Design Engineer in Security, focusing on firmware and kernel security components for smartphones and Linux-based tablets. From October 2014 to April 2018, Sami advanced to Senior Software Engineer at Google, where significant contributions included launching the first version of Android verified boot and creating an error correction scheme to enhance data reliability. Currently, as a Staff Software Engineer and TLM at Google since May 2018, Sami leads Android Platform Security initiatives, working on Linux kernel hardening and compiler-based mitigations.
