Sean Gilpin is a seasoned software engineer and researcher with a PhD in Computer Science from UC Davis. Gilpin's experience includes graduate research focusing on data mining methods such as constrained data mining, hierarchical clustering, and tensor decompositions. Prior to this, Gilpin served as a research intern at Sandia National Laboratories, where the investigation centered on ensemble classifiers and their accuracy, resulting in the creation of an open-source framework. At Sprint Nextel, Gilpin developed large-scale graph mining solutions for cell phone networks, contributing to the development of a new internal product. Currently a Senior Software Engineer at Google, Gilpin's earlier military service as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps involved training Marines in nuclear biological chemical defense, earning an honorable discharge and a secret clearance.
