Seth Lazar is a distinguished research fellow at the Institute for Ethics in AI and a fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, with significant academic and research experience. Previously, Lazar served as associate professor and head of the School of Philosophy at The Australian National University. In addition to leadership roles, Lazar is the principal investigator of the Machine Intelligence and Normative Theory Lab and an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. Previous roles include project leader for the Humanising Machine Intelligence Grand Challenge and a senior AI advisor at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University. Education includes a D.Phil. and M.Phil. in Politics (Political Theory) from the University of Oxford, along with a BA in English Language and Literature from the same institution. Upcoming roles include a position as visiting faculty researcher at Google.
