Simon Rogers

Simon Rogers is an experienced journalist and educator with a strong background in data journalism. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of Data Journalism at Northwestern University Medill School, Rogers teaches students in the Bay Area immersion program. Previous roles include Features Editor at The Lawyer, Deputy Editor at guardianunlimited.co.uk, and Assistant and Deputy Editor at The Big Issue, where notable interviews and guest editor slots were arranged. Rogers has extensive experience at The Guardian, notably as the founding editor of the award-winning Datablog and Datastore, and as a data editor focused on creating impactful visualizations. Rogers also served as the first data editor at Twitter, producing data stories around major news events, and currently leads the Trends Data Team at Google, specializing in data storytelling and visualizations. Education includes a postgraduate diploma in Newspaper Journalism from City University.
