Simon Tokumine is an accomplished director of product management at Google since May 2013, where responsibilities include leading the development of innovative Gemini products in Google Labs, such as NotebookLM and AI Podcasts, as well as previous roles in Gemini Core and Post Training for PaLM2. Prior to Google, Simon served as CTO at CARTO from March 2011 to May 2013, guiding the engineering efforts of the location intelligence platform from inception to launch. Simon co-founded jrpass.com, focusing on Japanese rail travel, and significantly boosted its presence in the market. A senior programme officer at UNEP-WCMC from November 2008 to November 2010, Simon led key projects, including the World Database of Protected Areas. Early career experience includes a director role at Japan Centre Group, encompassing operations and strategic planning. Simon holds an MSc in Computer Science from Imperial College London and a BSc in Environmental Biology & Management from the University of York.
